Dr. Mark G. Barkan
March 28, 1947 – August 31, 2026
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dr. Mark G. Barkan, TRIZ Master, on August 31, 2026.
Mark was one of the world’s leading TRIZ professionals and made an important contribution to the development, practical application, and international promotion of TRIZ. He played a particularly significant role in advancing TRIZ in the United States. Mark was the first in the USA who implemented TRIZ project at his industrial company Guston County Dyeing Machine Corp. in 1991.
Throughout his professional life, Mark devoted tremendous energy to teaching TRIZ and applying it in industrial consulting and problem-solving projects. He also made a major contribution to the International TRIZ Association (MATRIZ), serving as its President and, for many years, as Executive Director.
Many members of the international TRIZ community knew Mark personally – as a colleague, teacher, collaborator and friend. His professionalism, dedication to TRIZ, and willingness to share his knowledge will be remembered with great respect and gratitude.
We extend our deepest condolences to Mark’s family and loved ones, as well as to his friends, colleagues and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mark Barkan’s contribution to TRIZ and to the international TRIZ community will remain an important part of our shared professional legacy. We mourn his passing and will remember him with gratitude and respect.
